  • What is Panda Soft tissue made from?

Our luxury bamboo toilet paper range is made of 100% FSC Certified bamboo pulp.

  • How do you make bamboo toilet paper?

The process for making bamboo toilet paper is far simpler and less damaging than traditional toilet paper. The bamboo fibres are added to a mixture which forms a bamboo pulp. A process of soaking and pressing then takes place which turns the pulp into paper. After that, the paper is dried until the right moisture level is achieved. The process is more refined, and relies less on less water and fewer chemicals.

  • Where does the raw bamboo come from?

The bamboo we use comes from the Sichuan province of China, where it grows naturally in abundance without the use of chemical insecticides, pesticides or fertilisers. We source bamboo predominantly from local farming co-operatives, thereby supporting the rural economy. All sources are FSC certified and therefore responsibly and sustainably managed.

  • Where is Panda Soft made? If it's made overseas, how is it transported to the UK?

Our rolls are manufactured close to where the raw (bamboo) material is sourced in China, and we ship by sea freight to the UK. After looking at lots of different options we found this to be the best.

Bamboo does not grow in enough volumes in the UK, so if we manufactured in the UK we would still have to import the raw material by boat from China. This is also the case with paper. Most UK toilet rolls are made from paper grown in Scandinavia or America.

  • What is your packaging made from?

Our paper wraps are made from FSC certified paper and printed with soybean based inks. Our cartons are made from recycled paper and printed with soybean inks. All packaging is fully recyclable and compostable.

  • Is your product and packaging completely plastic free?

Yes! Being plastic free is very important to us, and has been an integral part of our mission from the outset. We studied many packaging options, including so-called environmentally friendly plastic options such as oxy-degradable plastic.

However, given the unrealistic conditions needed for such plastics to degrade, we felt that paper was the most environmentally sound choice. We also took care to ensure that no plastic was present in our packaging tape, opting to use a kraft paper based eco packaging tape reinforced with glass fibres.

  • Is bamboo tissue bleached?

Our paper is bleached using a process that is free from elemental chlorine (ECF), which is generally considered one of the most environmentally safe ways to bleach paper. UK customers prefer crisp white paper, natural brown reminds people of their old school days.

  • Is bamboo toilet paper flushable?

Yes, bamboo toilet paper is flushable. In fact, water breaks down bamboo toilet paper with incredible ease. The soft fibres in bamboo toilet paper means it is highly unlikely to clog your drains, which is often a problem with regular toilet paper.  Additionally, bamboo toilet paper is 100% biodegradable.

  • Is bamboo toilet paper better?

In short, bamboo toilet paper certainly is better than other toilet paper alternatives. In order to make virgin toilet paper, trees need to be sacrificed. Not only this, but the production process relies heavily on chemicals and bleaches. Although recycled paper has attempted to combat this, it is not as soft or functional as bamboo toilet paper.

  • Is bamboo toilet paper more sustainable?

Bamboo toilet paper is far more sustainable than other options on the market, and thus is great for the environment. Bamboo toilet is made from, you guessed it, bamboo. This is one of the most sustainable materials on earth, and needs very little to grow rapidly.

  • Is bamboo toilet paper good for sensitive skin?

Bamboo toilet paper may be a great alternative for people with sensitive skin. Our luxury bamboo toilet paper has long, smooth fibres that trap less dust particles. This makes it perfect for people with sensitive skin. The problem with a great deal of recycled toilet paper is that manufacturers create a product that is rough and unkind to skin. Our luxury bamboo toilet is soft, and made with the user’s comfort in mind.

  • What is FSC and why is it important?

The FSC is an international organisation that promotes responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC, over the years, has developed a certification system that allows consumers to know if products that are made using forest products have been sourced responsibly. Here at Panda Soft, we have full FSC accreditation.

  • What is the most environmentally friendly toilet paper?

There are a few options on the market today, with all variations of environmentally friendly toilet paper offering something different. We can vouch for bamboo toilet paper, and assure you that we are one of the most environmentally conscious and friendly options on the market. A great deal of post-consumer recycled (which is used to make recycled toilet paper) contains a thermal coating that contains BPA. Paper containing bisphenol-A (BPA) is extremely detrimental to the environment when flushed.

Companies such as ourselves that are FSC-accredited do not lean on harmful practices to produce their products. We respect the environment, as well as indigenous populations that help support the production of the bamboo we use. We would argue our luxury bamboo toilet roll is the most environmentally friendly toilet paper.

  • Could using too much bamboo make it endangered?

No! Due to bamboo growing as quickly as it does, we’ll never find ourselves in a shortage of the plant! Bamboo doesn’t require much space to grow, either. So, lots can be planted at once and grow compactly with no problems!

  • What does bamboo toilet paper feel like?

Bamboo toilet paper feels soft and silky, and is quite similar to wood pulp toilet paper, but it is more suitable for those with sensitive skin. Bamboo is also naturally antibacterial, so it won’t irritate your skin.
